Delightful Dishes Cooking Group went to a coastal region of India this week. Alice, who is originally from Keralam in India took us through a world of culture, beliefs and tingling tastes.
Keralam is derived from the word ‘kera’ which means ‘coconuts’ and ‘alam’ means land thus ‘Land of Coconuts’ which is a nick name used by locals due to the abundance of coconut trees in the region.
It was interesting to know that the South Indian state Keralam is a popular destination for tourism. Its lush green landscapes, abundant coconut trees, spice farms, mountain ranges, beaches and good food are some of the attractions in the state.
The chicken curry was simply delicious and bursting with flavours of authentic Keralam cuisine. Do not worry, I will be sharing the recipe with you after the break… hahahahahahahahaha!!!

Marya: Curry is like a Pakistani one but with some variations. Most interesting to learn that we should not keep cooked food with Coriander for too longer because the Coriander spoils the food. Yoghurt preserves the flavour of cooked food.
Savina: the class was good, and I liked cooking the rice. It’s a shame that the session for the year will soon come to an end. Looking forward to the new year!!!
