Well Yorkshire man Dan strikes again. Is there no limit to his talents. From gardening to our champion Yorkshire pudding maker, what next???
Dan and family were visiting Newbiggin by the Sea a delightful little known seaside town on the North East Coast.
Walking along the cliffs before setting off home a lady suddenly shouted for help. Her children had discovered a lady who had fallen down a craves and was stuck on a ledge dangerously near the oncoming tide. She was wet and weak and couldn’t get back up. If the children hadn’t seen her nobody would have known she was there. They are also heroes.
Dan told us that his instinct immediately kicked in and knew he had to do something,
He removed his phone, and jumper and climbed down to comfort and calm the lady. His son Billy also climbed down to help. A 999 call was made, and the Coast Guard were alerted.
Before they could get there, a wave came in and swept the lady into the sea. Dan a strong swimmer and long-time surfer judged the situation and went in after her. He managed to get her onto a rock and with the help of Billy got her out of the sea and eventually up to the top of the cliffs.
The coast guard were stood down and a land crew scrambled once they new everyone was out of the sea. The rescued lady was taken to hospital.
Well done Dan, Billy and the family who made the original discovery and shouted for help. We are all very proud of you.
