Saltaire has been on the list for a while for a place to visit as many of our group have never been! We planned the journey and decided to use the bus and train as some of us had never been on a train. New adventures all round!
We began our steps with a bus to Bradford, then a train to Saltaire from Foster Square Station. Lots of talking about what expect and sharing how amazed they were about how cost effective the train travel was!
·Did you know that you can buy a Fat Rascal in Saltaire Village Bakery and other amazing pastries.
We had a wander around the named streets and unique pretty shops, then on to Salts Mill followed by a walk around Roberts Park, getting our steps in. The rain started so we escaped the rain in Half Moon Cafe - Cafe in Saltaire, Saltaire - Bradford
Everyone enjoyed a natter and well-earned rest while waiting for the train back. Amazing that 4 to 6 thousand steps per person were done. Totalling over 55,00.
· Carol – A lovely change to get out with others. Been to salts mill before but still really enjoyed it. Amazing how much you get around, steps in when you’re having fun. A very different day to my normal Thursday. Very nice to get out walking in the fresh air and seeing others enjoying it too.
· Hugh- First time I visit Saltaire, really enjoyed it and got me out of the house and mobile otherwise I’d be in the house. Never realised I could travel on the train cheaper, and I’ve learnt a lot about how I can get about more. Thank you WEC for making this possible.
· David- Enjoyed getting out walking and been with others. I normally wouldn’t be with.
· Christabel- Today I made new friends, walked more steps and I’ve really enjoyed everything.
· Stephen K- Nice to get out and travel with others, never been to Salts mill and Roberts Park. Been with WEC made this possible for me to visit new places and get moving more.
· Kathleen – Although I’ve been in pain with my legs, I’ve managed to get around with support from everyone. Nice to visit somewhere I’ve not been before and be with lovely people.
· SC- Good to get out and socialise even though it rained everyone still had a good time and smiled. Helped my wellbeing.
· DD-Salts mill has changed and nice to see so many people out. Getting out and about building their steps up without realising it.
· DG – First time been here and been nice.
Our next adventure is on Thursday 18th September to Harrogate meet at the centre for 9am.
