Welcome to our monthly spotlight on volunteers blog.
The centre simply wouldn't be the same without our volunteers who are involved in most aspects of the running of the West End Centre, from forums and consultations, befriending, cooking, cleaning, supporting learners, admin, helping out at the allotment and looking after our grounds. Our building is closed at the moment and Covid has meant we have had to find different ways to reach out to our community. Our volunteers have come up trumps as always and have continued to provide support and uncountable acts of kindness.
This month we are saying a very big thank you to Ken our allotment volunteer. Ken has been working on our allotment team for the past few years and is always ready with tools in hand to tackle anything that needs doing - from repairing the shed, building beds and fences, digging, weeding, watering and taking new volunteers under his wing. When he has done all that he also finds time to help other allotment holders too! Ken is a friend to all and always has a smile on his face and really does enjoys what he's doing. Ken is at the allotment regardless of the weather and enjoys a good cuppa after some hard work.
So Ken, thank you for everything. Our allotment would not be the same without you and all the hard work you do.
