Looking back at Get Online Week 2026 at The West End Centre
We had a busy week at the Centre for Get Online Week, with lots going on to help people build their digital skills and confidence.
Our Management Committee got involved too, taking part in online governance learning using the PCs in our IT Learning Zone.
We also supported people with all sorts of everyday online tasks, including:
✅ Accessing and updating Universal Credit journals
✅ Updating CVs and searching and applying for jobs
✅ Taking part in e-learning, including Learn My Way
✅ One-to-one learning tailored to individual needs
✅ Contacting GPs and submitting meter readings
✅ Online shopping and finding information on the internet
✅ Learning to use computers, mobile phones, tablets and email
🎵 And even taking some time out to relax with music and videos!
A big thank you to Nathan from Brightsolid, who kindly volunteered with us for the day. Nathan was on hand to answer questions and ran a really useful workshop on staying safe online and spotting fraud and scam emails and texts.
The workshop covered phishing and smishing, social engineering, recognising scare tactics, email security and password best practices. There were also some interactive quizzes using fake phishing emails to help everyone spot the warning signs. A great way to learn about keeping ourselves safe online.
Getting online can sometimes feel a bit daunting, but with a little help and support, it can make a real difference. It was great to see people having a go, learning new skills and growing in confidence.
Need a bit of help getting online? We’re here to help!
