Wow! What a great day!
20 people from our community had their liver health checked, by the NHS portable scanner with West Yorkshire liver care ODN, at the West End centre.
A team from the NHS West Yorkshire Liver care were on hand to talk to us about liver-health and what the difference is between a healthy & unhealthy liver. One of the things that came out of our conversations was that we do not drink enough water and how this effects our organs. This is plain water, not tea, coffee, or juice.
Are you be interested in a liver scan? The liver team from the NHS will be back with us next year to do more liver scans and we are already taking names for the appointments. Please contact West end community centre for further information.
The New year will soon be here and what a great start to the year, Mon12th Jan 2026 Westend Centre will be running a " Looking after your liver workshop" interactive information session on how we can better look after our livers with West Yorkshire Liver care . Session will start around 12.30pm and everyone is welcomed.

Pip- Fab to have the opportunity to get checked and compare to my last results. I were treated like a person, not a number and everything were explained well to me. Thank you.
Lynn- I'm so grateful to have had this and has shown me how well my healthy living choices has helped my body.
KD- I had to wait a year for a liver scan in past and to be able to get one close to home with minimal wait I'm so very grateful. Thank you Westend centre for organising this.
Rodney- Attended cooking group then had my scan. Everything from start to finish were great. Taking away of the logistics ( parking-waiting times etc ) of having one at hospitals helped me loads. Thank you to the staff of WEC and NHS liver scanners.
Dee- I'm just blown away seeing so many having the opportunity to have the scan and be aware of their wellbeing. While meeting others in the centre, having a brew after and getting out and about. Truly made me smile for a long time. Thank you to those who attended and the NHS staff that abled this to happen. I never realised how big the liver were too!
Carol NHS- I have to say it was one of the best community events I have attended. The engagement for scans was fantastic as was the number of conversations I had with people about general liver health. I appreciate how much work is involved in putting an event like this together and I have say you did an excellent job.
