Jordan’s Magical Mystery Tour … The hidden gems of public transport

During our recent community consultation and evaluation event you told us that there were some issues with the local buses and the service wasn’t always reliable.  We have also been asked to help people add the app on their smartphone to keep a track on where the buses are.

Jordan has previously worked in the transport industry and uses public transport on a regular basis so is up to date what’s going on and some of the hidden gems people may not know about.   During the group Jordan talked about the app Bus Checker UK you can download onto your smartphone, tablet, PC, laptop or tablet which tells you in real time where buses, trams and trains are across the UK.  We also looked at a map of Bradford which shows where all the buses have been relocated to around the town centre now the bus station is temporarily closed, this was useful as it wasn’t always clear where the buses have been relocated to.

Jordan shared information on the Dales bus and the Coastliner and talked about the different bus tickets and passes available.   We learnt that you can get a Coastliner bus from Leeds to Scarborough or Whitby for just £2 each way.  Bargain for a great day out at the seaside!

The links are below for all the information we share during the session.

Jordan told us I wanted to share my knowledge around public transport and help people in the local community get the best value for their money and help them getting a bus app called Bus checker UK this app will help lots of people to find the buses with live information and can track trains and trams around the United Kingdom. This will help lots of people keep track of time and make plans useful.

Marya said thank you so much for the talk I have really learnt so much that I didn’t know and can plan a family day out to the seaside and can save a lot of money using the Coastline that Jordon told us about. Also learnt about passes that I didn’t know were available.

S said it was very useful learnt a lot of new things about local transport. We were made very welcome at the centre it was our first visit and we will be back hopefully for lunch and maybe the cooking group.

Thank you to everyone who came to the talk and thanks to Jordan for sharing his time, and it was great to see some new visitors to the centre.
