Fancy a brew?

We turn our hands to a lot of things up at the allotment and our latest project is making our own herbal tea. We asked our allotment group what new things they wanted to try at and this one was of the first suggestions.

The first step was to pick the herbs we have grown this year mint, lemon balm, marjoram and thyme, these herbs were then tied up and left to dry before we can do anything else.

You can make herbal tea blends from both fresh herbs and dried herbs. Make a small amount first and adjust the ratio of ingredients to your taste. Some ingredients are stronger than others, so change the amounts slowly to keep the balance. The benefits of herbal teas depends on which herbs you use but can help to reduce stress, improve digestion and reduce fatigue amongst other things.

Keep an eye out for further updates on our herbal tea making project.
