Volunteer at the centre
If you would like to gain some work experience, or just to get involved in the centre why not come and volunteer?
Last year volunteers gave well over 3000 hours of their time, which is the same as adding two extra staff to our team!!
Volunteers are central to the development and success of the West End Centre. They help to decide what activities are of interest to the community. They have done this by taking part in community consultations and evaluating the groups and activities we deliver.
They help to deliver the groups and activities by setting up and clearing away equipment, helping to prepare food, supporting learners, working on our allotment project and even cleaning and decorating the centre.
We also provide placements for students seeking to gain practical experience in a community setting, this enables you to explore how theory and practice fit together. We work closely with Bradford College, offering placements to a range of students from level 1 to undergraduates and post graduate students.
The West End Centre was the first placement provider to be awarded a certificate for 'exceptional support for students on placement' by Bradford Community College.
In August 2019 we were proud to be awarded The Volunteering Kitemark for the Bradford district:
"The kitemark is a certificate awarded to organisations that show their volunteering programmes provide the best experience for volunteers, in addition it benchmarks the quality of volunteer management and involvement"
We have a dedicated session set aside on Monday afternoons for supporting our amazing volunteers and meeting new ones, so if you are interested in volunteering at the centre come along and see us.
