Its always nice to start the week with some good news, so we wanted to let you know that after a spot Food Hygiene Inspection last week we retained our 5* rating. Congratulations and a massive thankyou to all the volunteers who helped us achieve this, we couldn't do it without you!
Staying on the subject of food our popular cooking group returned on Friday with a focus on cooking for health. As the weather is getting colder we started with quick and easy soups, carrot and ginger, leek and potato and pea, with some wholemeal soda bread to go with it- all absolutely delicious and easy to make at home.
The cooking group is a follow on from our preventing diabetes 8 week course which aims to give you the tools you need to find out your personal risk of diabetes and help to make lifestyle changes to reduce that risk in a fun and interactive way. Here's what participants on the last course had to say about it;
· "Because it was in a group setting I was inspired by others to make an effort to change"
· "Good- very interactive"
· " I'm finding it easier to make changes. My shoes are looser- I never knew you could lose weight off your feet!"
· "A combination of diet, physical exercise have both made me more confident in the way I look and feel. I can fit into smaller clothing"
· "Excellent *****"
Our next course starts very soon and is free. and everyone is welcome- even if you have never attended the centre before. If you would like to take part contact us through the usual channels or ring Fran on 07743 687053, you can also e-mail fran.westend@outlook.com . We hope to see some of you soon
